We’re no stranger to wildfire smoke up here, but I’m not sure it’s been this bad in my memory. Don’t get me wrong though, I know we’re still lucky, we’re on not fire up here, which I’m grateful for. *knocks wood*

All these pictures look like they’re straight out of a movie... a very scary, post apocalyptic , not so happy ending movie... stay safe pal.

I’m thinking of driving the fintail tomorrow simply because the stuff coming out the back will be cleaner than the ambient air.
There are several AQI stations in WA with readings over 400 at the moment.

Yeah, it’s definitely feeling odd and vaguely apocalyptic outside. Nothing like the bright red/orange pics I’m seeing out of OR and CA though..

Pretty similar to Seattle, stay safe fellow “this region of the earth-er ”

I’m not sure about you, but this air quality ruins my ambition/energy level. We’ve had this smoke for going on an entire month in the bay area.

Oh absolutely, I mean I was outside for an hour and I felt light-headed and my throat felt like I’d smoked a few cigarettes. Working in it sucks too, gotta go slow and still be light-headed/nauseous

Oregon and Washington apologizes for sharing our toxic air...
Here is the sun, no filter, adjustment or color correction as of 20 minutes ago from down here.

Other than the cars, it kind of looks like Southern California in the 1970s. Or Beijing now, on any normal day.

Good article from The Atlantic on these pictures (it says a lot of these images should actually be more orange to capture what people are seeing, among other things): Your Phone Wasn’t Built for the Apocalypse: Why the orange sky looks gray

Air quality in the western US is being compared to china’s right now by the news.

It might even be worse, it’s already worse than in Delhi

Someone sneakily replaced it with a gigantic orange.

I've had my window open much of this week. The East Coast has really spoiled me. Stay safe out there. Especially driving an older car with a less than stellar cabin filtration system.

That sounds like an awful idea. The things going into it and onto it are not exactly beneficial. I’d duct tape another cover around the entire thing myself.

we were like this back in January.

Truth be told, I ripped the bike for like 3h near-ish the water. I smelt smoke just out the door but after 5min didn’t notice it.
I’m sitting at home with the HEPA on full blast .

It just hit western Montana. Wow what a change in about 39 minutes it went from 15 mile visibility to 1 mile visibility.

I’m really not enjoying this. The air tastes like smouldering glue and it’s making me feel like dogshit. Better than actually being on fire, though I feel bad for the areas which are.

It was kind of a joke. The smell alone will probably keep me inside, I don’t “need” to go anywhere, so I likely won’t.

Thank goodness for that. You sounded cabin-feverish.

Oh, I am just a bit. Haven’t gone out to do anything more than get the mail since Thursday. Fingers crossed next week this goes away.

I honestly don’t know if this even has a cabin air filter, I generally don’t even have the fan on. I’ve just been wearing a filtered mask when I’m out, including while driving since it’s been smoky

Gotta use those 10 year old N95 masks sometime.

Oh I’ve actually got a fabric mask with a pocket for filters. Too hard to breathe through while I’m working, but good with all this smoke

I’ve seen those around. I’ve also seen people with full on respirators on but we also don’t have to contend with dangerous air quality.
